All,
I am also gettnig a lot of questions about camping and the various camps at Maryland, My Maryland, so let me try to explain.
Reenactor Camping at Maryland, my Maryland
At the Event, we will offer 4 separate camps to accommodate participants. They will be a Military Camp for both sides, a Civilian Camp for civilians only, and a Camp of Convenience.
The Military Camp- This camp will feature both campaign and garrison camping, but is strictly limited to the military ONLY. Any civilians wishing to visit the military camps must request a pass through the provost of the respective Army. These camps will be run in a proper military manner, enforcing Customs of Service.
There will be 2 Brigades on the Southern Side- 1st ( Stepp) and 2nd ( Pridgeon) that will be camping in this manner, as well as a Federal Military only camp.
The Civilian Camp- This camp is for civilians only, no military members can camp within its boundaries. This is for civilians to portray the Citizens of Maryland as war came their way. The civilians are working to re create the town of Keedysville....
The Camp of Convenience is available for participants who choose not to stay in the military or civilian camps and wish to camp mixed (civilians and military together). Military participants who camp in this camp are expected to arrive at their designated assembly locations on time and ready for the day’s activities as ordered.
The CS 3rd Brigade ( Jeanette) will be the CS Mixed Camp. It is located between 1st and 2nd brigade in a beautiful valley between the rolling hills of our camp. On the US side, the Mixed Camp will be in the field adjacent to the US military camp, and closest to the Sutlers.
All rules and regulations for the event apply to all camps, and do read them and let us know if you have any questions regarding such. Quiet hours will be from 11:00 PM until reveille.
All Participant Parking will be across Monroe Road near Registration, and all camps will be closed to cars ( except any needed artillery trailers which will access the Artillery camps whish will be located very close to Monroe Road so as to disturb " 1862" as little as possible.
I hope this helps explain the layout, and we are working on the overall event map as I type.
It will be posted on the web site at www.marylandmymaryland.org
Pards,
