Is there a "proper" way to load the paper tubes and twist the tops? i have the powder, tubes and measure, just need to know if there is a particular way that they should be done.
THanks

Hallo!
To make a more "historical" version of a Period paper cartridge, or just to make a non-historical based cartridge "good enough" for some reenacting segments?
There are a number of on-line web sites/pages around that cover "authentic" type cartridge and bundle making such as:

Plus modern reenacting variations such as twisted tails, etc., etc.

Not a real Civil War reenactor, I only portray one on boards and fora.
I do not portray a Civil War soldier, I merely interpret one.
Curt provides a good link above. There used to be a similar link (might have been the same one?) on the Lazy Jacks website, but I just checked and that seemed to be down. If you don't have the time patience to roll and tie each one, you can purchase proper tubes from a vendor like NJ Sekela (see recent thread).

I went with the pre rolled tubes for my first go at it. I guess I can just finish the tubes as described in the attached instructions and be okay.
Thanks for your input.
Here's a link to the Lazy Jack article : http://web.archive.org/web/201001052...k/cartrdge.htm The original is down, but I found this one is how it was captured by archive.org a year or two ago. Here's part two : http://web.archive.org/web/201004050.../cartrdge2.htm I've re-linked both on my links page at : http://www.zipcon.net/~silas/links.htm#

"While the original battle [Gettysburg] may arguably be considered the epicenter of the history of the war, the GAC reenactment is not the epicenter of the hobby. To confuse or equate the two is unfortunate. - Bernard Biederman, 6 July 2012
"Authenticity conflicts occur when reenactors from one end of the spectrum attend events at the other end of the spectrum then try to impose their own standards instead of event standards."
