I'm even taking my moderator bonnet off. There now.
This is my official pre-event Rant.
I made a little speech back in January at the national meeting of the Blue Gray Alliance. I would normally assume that all commanders present at that meeting comunicated to their folks the various information they received. My phone and mail in recent days tells me this is not the case.
First, here, linked straight to the event website, are the standards for the Civilian ONLY Town of Purdy:

There are a number of rules there, but there are a couple that have specific application to the military side of this event. It would be a good idea to read them if you have any idea of living in the Town of Purdy.
The short version is this :
NO MILITARY MAY LIVE IN THE TOWN OF PURDY. Period. End of Story.
The Town of Purdy is integral to planned scenarios during the event. The presence of the 'wrong side' at any given moment is essentially 'scenario busting'--something that all good military participants should understand as a disruptive influence during an event, a rogue action that can destroy months of planning in a matter of moments.
If military reenactors set up camp in the Town of Purdy, and emerge from their tent in military uniform during the course of the event, they will be required to move their camp from the Town immediately. As Civilian Governor for the Blue Gray Alliance, I have the backing of both overall commanders in enforcing this. Further, I have delegated to the Town Mayor, Robert Orrand, full authority to make decisions as to who may live in the Town, and to enforce all the Town rules.
If you are military and unable to camp with your campaign unit due to physical infirmity, the place for you is in 'family garrison/mixed camps'. There are two of them. Federal 'mixed camps' are behind Sutler Row. Confederate 'mixed camps' are beside Confederate Parking.
If you are civilian and unable to walk distance--well, its up to you to judge your limitations and act accordingly. Its a long way to the parking lots from Purdy. Its a long way to Sutlers from Purdy. We are about as far back in the property as one can get.
THERE ARE NO SHUTTLES RUNNING TO THE TOWN OF PURDY FROM ANYWHERE IN THE SITE. Further, the Town of Purdy closes to vehicle traffic at NOON on Friday.
There is no 'handicapped parking' in or near Purdy. The area is closed to vehicle traffic from noon on Friday until the event is over on Sunday afternoon. There are no exceptions. If you wish to go the Dance, the parking lot, Sutler Row, or anywhere else on the site, you will have to walk to get there.
Either that, or bring your own period carriage and team and use them to travel. The historical record shows that can also be a bad idea with an army around.
