Not sure how close you will be to Frederick, Md, but you mentioned Maryland and DC, so I figured I would throw this out there. The monocacy battlefield is located in Federick, Md, and is a neat battlefield to visit. Also nearby is the national civil war medicine museum in downtown Frederick. And then to finish of the day is brewer's alley. Excellent food and even better microbrews.
