    Default Women in camp

I'm not trying to be sexist or anything, but I was remembering last year when I was at a reenactment and every third reenactor was a women! That is not realy period correct. I mean, A civil war camp was a rough place to be in, the poor men werre'nt worried about staying prim proper and nice infront of the ladys. They where worried about staying alive! They knew that the odds of them dieing where HUGE! Plus almost every lady was by herself! I thought back then the girls had to have an escort to go places (like soldier camps) Any thoughts?

Some reenactments are more accurate than others.

Ya know, I don't say this often, but "a search of this topic will yield several threads where this subject has been discussed." I'm just not up for flaying the flesh from the putrescent hide of a deceased equine beast of burden.

Great words to end this thread on. This has been oft discussed and always goes south quickly....
