Default Looking for unit in the Gettysburg Pa area.

I'm looking for a reenactment unit in the Gettysburg Pa area(plus or minus forty miles). I prefer confederate but would be willing to go Federal. I have 30+ years experience in both reenactments and living history. Any leads will be greatly appreciated.

Try the 42nd Mississippi, Co I (https://sites.google.com/site/42ndmississippicoi/home). I've worked with them over the years, and good folks.

I think the Phoenix Iron Pards go both ways, they're in town. There's Liberty Rifles around town too, and they definatly go both sides.

I would be interested in knowing more about your artillery group. Unfortunately, I don't think I am permitted to receive PM on this forum.

    Mr. Einhorn,

I don't get around with the old 3rd too much anymore. Back when I made my account here, they were my home unit (thus my user name), but I've moved to some other units in the hobby. I will vouch for them, the 3rd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery Battery B is a great unit with great people, and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a family-oriented unit. Their website is http://batteryb-3pavol.org/.

    Regards,
I appreciate the urls that folks have provided. Unfortunately the 3pavol does not have any events listed for 2012 so I can't determine where they are participating in events.

Michael, Thank you for the invitation. At the moment I have a bad chest cold, and don’t expect to be better by Saturday.

At the moment, due to the cost of gas, I am mainly interested in events in and close to Gettysburg.

When I was building my Traveling Forge (also called a Battery Forge) my plan was to accept the invitation to hook up with Charlie Tarbox’s mounted artillery unit. A mounted artillery unit is best equipped to load, unload and move a heavy wheeled Traveling Forge, and tend to be more interactive with a Traveling Forge. Plus with Charlie, he stayed pretty close to Gettysburg. Unfortunately, Charlie no longer has his horses or equipment. Most groups seem to be geographically spread out with the events that they participate in.

    Many thanks,
    Dave E.
