Beginning the quilting progress. Quilt lines are spaced 1/4 inch apart.

Completed quilting. All that's needed now is a light pressing. All of this work took a total of 9 hours. The quilting alone took 2.5 hours. The other side will be done tomorrow.

    Close up of the quilting.

Here's another way to quilt the lining. Horizontal and bias lines are marked. Then a single side stitch is taken at the intersection of each line. It leaves a very soft finish.

Felling the facing to the forepart along the front edge.

    Halfway done!

Note the sharp point on the lapel. Very tricky to do.

The forepart and skirt lining sewn in place. The linings are not sewn together. Rather, they are basted in place one at a time, and felled down individually.

    Interior pleat pocket.

Polished cotton lines the pleat pocket, which has been top stitched by hand.

Another view of the lapel point.

The embroidery in progress for a covered button. The pattern was taken from an 1860s Godey's magazine.
