Very much looking forward to this! Still have my sprig of boxwood from December. What's the expected mode of transportation for the "Federal troops crossing the Rappahannock"? Thanks to your Committee for putting this event together--it's certain to be one of the highlights of 150th Anniversary cycle.

    Claude,

I am supporting the Battle of Fredericksburg Committee and there is coordination on going for the construction of period pontoons to recreate the landing of the 89th NY at the City Dock and also for the Virginia National Guard to emplace a modern military pontoon bridge as an analog for the pontoon bridges used at the middle crossing. The Federal forces will be encamped at Ferry Farm and will either cross via the pontoons rowing across the river or march over the bridge into the city.

You can expect addional details to come out in early March, including instructions on how to participate with the group portraying the 89th NY. In the meantime, if you have any questions concerning the overall event, please contact the committee via the email provided by Jerry Lynes in the announcement. Individuals interested in assisting with the construction of the period pontoons, please contact me directly at pete.berezuk@gmail.com

    All,

The Commanders and Staff of the Southern Division are forming a Federal company for this event. Right now we have 27 folks lined up for this Awkward Squad.

    Default The Irish Brigade

The 3rd USV will be portraying various units of the Irish Brigade for this event.
Our plan is to raise five large companies to represent the five regiments of the Brigade. By large, I mean 60-70 men per company.
Those interested in this venture may contact me directly. Once the company grade officers are selected, each will be responsible for coordinating his own officer and nco structure. It is my desire that each company be organized with a full compliment of officers and ncos.

    Captain
    1st Lt.
    2nd Lt.
    1st SGT.
    4 SGTs.
    8 Corporals
    40-50 privates

It is desirable that units have officer/nco representation equal to the number of men they bring to the field.
    6-8 men: A corporal
    13-17 men: 2 corporals and a sergeant
Units of over 20 men MAY be asked to provide one officer. We do not need five officers per company. If in doubt, come as a private.

There will be a battalion camp established at the Ferry Farm reflecting that of a winter camp in Falmouth, minus the huts. Any civilians who wish to camp will be placed in an area adjacent to the battalion camp. Civilians will not be permitted to camp withing the boundaries of the battalion cantonment. It will be COLD. However, our camp will be open to the public and all anachronisms must remain out of site. More details on this will be forthcoming.

I'm hoping that I'll be back from Berlin in time to experience this (albeit from the perspective of a spectator). This looks great!
