We're Raising a Company of Federals for McDowell: the Color Company
The Rowdy Pards, in cooperation with The Boys of Company C, are looking to raise a company of Federals for next Spring's McDowell event. The goal of the company will be to provide the Federal forces with a headquarters company and a full color guard.
Those of you without a home unit for the event are welcome to fall in with us. We have been the core around other units for numerous events in the past, including several previous McDowells, "War on the James," "Bummers" and "Into the Wildnerness." Individuals, small messes or even squads will be integrated into our group. While not an immersion event, all participants will be encouraged to exclude modern talk, song, etc. during the weekend.
Those who have participated in previous McDowells will know what an outstanding locale this is. The chance to recreate the battle on the original ground is rare these days. Expect a great time.
Those of you who have never done a campaigner event are welcome to join our merry band and get mentoring and a friendly reception. We only ask that you bring a good attitude and a willingness to "do it right." Whatever you don't know, we'll help you learn. If you kit's not yet where you want it to be (or think Campaigners expect it to be), we'll help you get ready and provide loaner gear if available.
The company tentatively will be commanded by Mike Murley, one of the outstanding leaders in our hobby.
A list server will be set up shortly to keep those in the group informed about the event in general and our company in particular.
