I'm looking for a bugle so I can learn to play the skirmish calls for my company. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have a reccomendation on where to purchase a bugle that is period correct? I've looked at Amati and some others but the spit valves just seem a little over the top.

You will find lots of information about being a reenactor bugler. You need to find a B-flat clairon style bugle for infantry bugling. Amati makes one, and you could also look for a bugle make by J.H.Berger specifically for Civil War reenacting... both copper and brass ones are available... You can also contact the reenactor bugler who operates the above website, or also do a search on this website for bugle. There is a ton of info here! Good luck!

yes, I now own 2. A French Cousen and another old C Bugle tunable to B flat.
