B&E for the most part is analogous to the famous jaguar-skin trousers... It's period music, but not P/E/C (period, everyday, common) music. Of course there are some exceptions.

I thought the P was for plain, not period....even so, that might make B&E not E\C.....
OF course, tell that to the 5th Minnesota Field Music's who used B&E during the War....the manual is (I think] at Fort Snelling....contains the self printed name of the musician who used it during the war.....
