I believe it is the same book, published under slightly different titles

    Question Ah....

I though so. Does this book give detail accounts from an actual person who served or a general army life view?

The Amazon link that was provided earlier gives a detailed description of the book, including the fact that McCarthy was an infantry private and that the book was previously published in 1882.

    Question Once Again.

Once again, rather than going through Amazon or Ebay, does anyone here have any of these books they might want to sell me?

Add to your list, "Rebel Private: Front and Rear", the memoirs of William A. Fletcher

and "Manassas to Appomattox", the memoirs of Pvt. Edgar Warfield, 17th Va Inf

I have not heard others talk about Warfield's book, but the details in between the battles puts it right in there with Watkins and Fletcher. His description of manning the line at Petersburg is something that has stuck with me the three years since I read it. As a matter of fact, having just perused over the 7 or 8 dog-eared pages I put in my copy, I have decided to re-read this book in preparation for the 150th at Manassas.
