Our unit has lost a founding member this past week. He was a great man and a great friend. He was an retired Capt. and an 18 year veteran in the US Army. The Army is providing a modern day burial salute at the grave site. As a unit we are trying to get together a period correct salute as well. We are an artillery unit and have plenty of members to participate. Does anyone have any links or info I could look at as to the actual salute used in the Civil War? Any help would be greatly appreciated on this issue. Thanks in advance.
R.I.P Capt Bernard Roberts (ret.)
You will be sorely missed.
