Tramp Brigade Org. South Carolina & Southeast

Our organization is based in Charleston, SC, however; we have members in North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland and Virginia.

Our unit is following and researching the SC Confederate Infantry Brigade that was formed by Gneral Nathan "Shanks" Evans. We will follow the chronological and historical trail of the "Tramp Brigade". Currently we have 16 active and paid members.

We are members of the Southeast Coalition of Authentic Reenactors (SCAR) and we attend campaigner-living history events and the occasional augments to battle reenactments. Many of the events we are planning will take us to Virginia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Florida and of course Charleston, SC.

Our gear standards are easily attainable and we will not require you to buy everything under the sun. Our impression is Infantry, but on occasion we will perform artillery and some specialty impressions.

In 2011 we will have some "Mustering in" events in Charleston and the Upstate of South Carolina. I looking to hold these in June, September and November of next year. In December, 2011 we will officially kick off the start of our journey to follow the trail of the Tramp Brigade. Prospective members are not required to live in SC.

Non-members are always welcomed to join and fill out the ranks in the future as long you have the right kit to achieve the standard for that event. For membership we ask $30 a year for Insurance and participation in two scheduled events.

On 01/11/11 the Tramp Brigade O.H.I will reorganize as the "Carolina Rifles", representing Company F, of the 17th South Carolina Volunteers,
this will be our unit for the Sesquicentennial and our company level impression.

Our first meeting as the CR will take place in Columbia on February 26th, 2011. We will meet at the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum at 10:00 am. After we tour the SCCRR, we will meet for a late lunch.
