    Smile Perryville-1 week away?

    To All

We talk or should I say Type on this forum, with Perryville coming up, this is a chance for everyone to meet. Those who know more and have fun typing can find a spot and time. We need to put a face to these thoughts.

    Sir,
I will be there around 11:00A.M. Friday morning, I am comming down from the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and over with my company from Wisconsin. This will be my 2nd National Event and am looking forward to meeting people. We are the 2nd Wisconsin Association and will be traveling down by bus there will be 28 of us. Out of that 28 we have a bunch of us who protray a family, I am Uncle Sumner, and the rest of the family are Stoch, Stefan, Stewart, Stanley, cousin Bazil, and my brother Pa. We have a good time doing this impression and it works as alot of the men from Wisconsin were together under one company. Just watch and listen for the slang and you will find us. It will be nice to meet alot of you.

Why don't we meet either at the museum or on sutler's row? They seem to be in no man's land between the two camps.

    Here's a map:

The museum sounds like a great place its somewhere we can all find now the time is what we have to come up with. I say Sat. after the morning battle and before the afternoon battle, something that won't conflict with anyones other duties. I suggest 11am.

A week from last night I'll be on the road home back.....

Division staff reporting in Thursday Afternoon. Sleeping where the 79th PA fought...and refilling canteens where the Bloody 1st Wisconsin fought.....doesn't get much better than that.

    Listen for the bugles Doug....

Will do on the bugles, look for the grey 24pder trying to hold off the advances of the black hats out of the west. Looking forward to Perryville its only about 50 miles or so from my home.

Keep in mind that the 1FD will be doing extended division, brigade and battalion guard duty daily from pre-dawn to about 11pm. That's going to require a lot of manpower and absorb a lot of the typical "down time". We also have a mandatory field competition Sunday morning for 1FD companies.

Not sure what those Feds beyond the control of 1FD, or the Confederates, will be doing.

Mrs. Lawson, I am determined to meet you at this event, if not actually get to interact with you in period style, depending upon my duties as a company corporal. I'll be the gray-haired, chubby, but endearing old guy with round-rimmed spectacles and two stripes on each sleeve. I will be sorely disappointed if I cannot make it to "town" to see you. It's on my "To Do" list for the event.

There is a lot of us CS forces that won't have guard duty, Artillery being one, if they can be there fine, if not so be it. I just hope to meet some of the folks on the civil war forum. Face to names. On to Perryville.

I'll be there with my fresh Sgt. stripes on. (been one for a month now) It will be very interesting. I'll be the one trying to yell orders with a cold. Weeeeeee!! :P

Also, RJ, I will be listening to your calls on the way down there, so I have a clue of what you are saying.
