Fellow Riflemen,
Interest has been expressed in once again forming a company to portray the men of the 14th Missouri Volunteer Infantry, more affectionately known as "Birges Western Sharpshooters" for the upcoming Twin Rivers National in November.
I have spoken to Col. Crowder of the 1st Federal Division and he is aware of this undertaking and has given us the green light to proceed.
This will be a unique opportunity to portray the early war period of the famed riflemen of the "Squirrel Tail Brigade." The company will take part in re-creating the skirmish and sharpshooting activities undertaken by the riflemen of the regiment during the last few days of the Fort Donelson campaign.
The event itself promises to be very different from the others we have taken part in before in all ways including logistical support of troops in the field via period means.
Details regarding uniform, weapon and equipment standards will be posted at a later date. Those who are remotely familiar with this unit should already have an idea of what will be needed for the impression.
Those interested in taking part in this grand adventure may email me at their earliest convenience at:

Thank you for your time and attention on this matter.
Sincerely,
Robert Leinweber
