I apolgize for bothering the general public again with my quest for knowledge, but I have a question I cannot seem to find the answer to.
I am researching a unit called the 151st PVI. My ancestor, Lt. Col. G. F. McFarland was the unit commander at Gettysburg. I've been attempting to find what sort of weapons and accoutrements they would've been issued, but to no avail. I've got most of the basic stuff down, as in trousers, shoes, etc., but I can't find anything on what sort of musket was carried, whether frock coats or sack coats were issued, or details such as those.
The unit was mustered in during November of '62. Was there a specific pattern for accoutrements issued to Federal (or at least Pennsylvania) troops at that time? Any help is appreciated, no help will be reluctantly accepted, though.
