    Default Authentic.... Womens clothing... :?:

Yep. Never thought Id be saying that. But here I am. I remember the Graceful Lady (Anna Allen?) being an approved vendor but I know there has to be others. And ladies my knowledge of womens clothing is limited to lots of buttons and lots more layers. So all your comments will be printed and passed on for further review. Thank in advance.

Aw-oh! Wildman. You're not thinking about cross dressing are you? Uh-huh!
William, I think we need to have a little talk with your folks!!
But, I guess as long as it is an authentic dress why not?

If you know someone who sews, Simplicity has patterns for dresses and I believe McCall's does too. There's some discussion as to how correct the Simplicity dresses are, because apparently they changed some of the things from the original work that the Fashion Historian did. I'm waiting on a pattern book from some ladies whose work is very authentic. If you're interested in patterns I can let you know when the book comes out.

    Greetings, William!

Elizabeth Clark has written some very excellent books, if sewing (rather than purchasing finished) is an option. "The Dressmaker's Guide to Fit and Fashion" and "Skirting the Issue: A Workbook for Skirts & Petticoats" are very helpful and informative, regarding both dresses and undergarments. See www.elizabethstewartclark.com.
