Default From Field To Fashion: The Straw Bonnet

I am down to the last few copies of the second printing of my booklet _From Field To Fashion: The Straw Bonnet_. I am deciding whether or not to do a third printing soon and if so, what size of printing.

This booklet discusses the mid-nineteenth century straw industry and straw bonnets appropriate to the Civil War era. The booklet covers the straw fibers used, types of straw plait, bonnet base construction, production rates, embellishing and wearing straw bonnets. The booklet is 46 pages plus title pages. It includes detailed footnotes, a bibliography and an appendix.

It has been available directly from me via ebay ( http://tinyurl.com/zt5zy ) and from the Flint Hill Store at the Genesee Country Village & Museum.

I would appreciate any posts or messages of interest which will help me decide on the third printing.

    Thank you,

    Default No more books?...

    Hi Delia,

I went to your link and it says 0 searches with the title of your book in it. Is the link working properly or did you sell out already? I'm in the process of trying to make a straw bonnet and want to make sure it is shaped correctly before I put too much more time into it. One of the ladies in our unit told me it is probably suitable for an early war impression as it is probably shaped more like the bonnets of the 1830's or 40's. Let me know if you have any more booklets and how much you were asking for them.

    Thanks,

The booklet listed over the weekend did sell on Saturday. I will list a couple this morning.

If you can take pictures of the bonnet you are working on, I can give you my thoughts. In the meantime, I am a big fan of www.mfa.org . They have a nice collection of straw bonnets pictured in their digital collections.

The second printing is completely sold out as of last night.
I may do a third printing sometime this winter.

    Default Third Printing

I just picked up a new printing of From Field To Fashion.
Dad needed more & asked me to order.

The booklet is listed on ebay:

I will relist them as they sell.

You can also send me a PM or email.
