    WTH,

I’m in Texas now but used to live up that way. What is he looking for? Infantry, cavalry or artillery? Mainstream, “progressive” or campaigner? Might help a little at suggesting a few.

Although I've lived in W.Va. for about 5 years now, I remain a long-distance member of the 27th CVI, which I joined back in '95. Here's their site: http://www.tomcko.com/27thcvi/

Also consider the 8th CVI ( http://8cv.home.comcast.net/~8cv/ ) and 14th CVI ( http://members.tripod.com/bliss_barn/ ). I know guys in both, and they're fine units. There's also the 2nd Conn. heavy artillery ( http://www.the2dconn.com/index.html ), although I don't know anyone in that. Obviously, those are all Union. There are also a number of Reb units, but I've been gone a while and don't remember them.

    Hope this helps.

    Default Looking for a unit

While we aren't a unit as such at this point, there is a loose confederation of Union (get the pun?!) progressives up here in CT/New England. We have a Yahoo group we use to post info etc. We attend events in the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as some "carpe eventum" stuff up here in New England. If he is interested, have your pard send me an email at: tom.craig@ymail.com

    Take care,
    Tom Craig

For mainstream units here is a good place to start. http://www.newenglandbrigade.org/NEB/index.html for Union. The units should be listed there or if you contact them they can provide the contact list.

I would heartily recommend both the 11th Conneticut Volunteer infantry http://www.11thcvi.org/index.html and the 2nd Conneticut Heavy Artillery http://the2dconn.com/ . Both units have a great bunch of guys, both attend alot of great events. Huzzah!

    indguard,

I seemed to have joined the forums at just the right time for your question!

I'm actually with the Liberty Greys (6th Batt, 1st Div, ANV), the Confederate battalion counterpart to the New England Brigade (NEB). I'm with Morton's Battery, and I work directly with the battalion (regional) Cheif of Artillery as well. Although I reenact confederate only at the moment, I've made some decent contacts with the blues, especially the artillerists. Let me know what your friend is looking to do, and I can give a lot of first hand information, as well as get him in contact with the right people (or at least get him a contact). If he'd like, he can contact me at:

    obrien1014@gmail.com

I'd be more than happy to speak with him!
