Thumbs up Statue Dedication - Portland, Oregon May 30th

The Col. Edward D. Baker Camp, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, will be dedicating a new life size Civil War statue at the G.A.R. Cemetery on May 30th. The ceremony begins at Noon and will last about one hour.

The new bronze edifice is believed to be the first Civil War soldier statue erected in the Pacific Northwest in 100 years. It replaces the original cemetery statue that was installed about 1900 but stolen by metal thieve more than forty years ago.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

    Default Well done, Brothers!

Excellent. It's heartwarming to see progress in replacing/restoring such monuments. Best wishes on your rededication ceremony. I will try to contact my brother/Brother in Washington to see if he will be able to help or at least show up to support your efforts.

Let's put "memory" back in Memorial Day.
