Default Looking for a Progressive Confederate unit in VA Beach area

One of the members of my unit has a good friend who is moving to the Virginia Beach area and who is interested in getting into reenacting. I talked to him about reenacting at Neshaminy and, based upon that conversation, I believe that he would be happier in a more progressive unit that gives him the option of fully immersing himself into the era for each event. If you know of some contact information for such units in that area which I can relay on to him, I would greatly appreciate it.

Three of our members are located in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va.

If your friend is more interested in joining a smaller unit that specialized in various Confederate and Federal regiments during the American Civil War, we may be that group!

"The Skillygalee Mess was formed in April 2006 with a set goal in mind: to accurately portray the common soldiers of the American Civil War and to excel in term of authenticity. We constantly seek opportunities to further the education of others and ourselves about the sacrifices of our forefathers.

How we compare to other reenactment groups is unimportant. What matters to us is the historical authenticity and research that we continuously examine to further our knowledge and understanding of history. Furthermore, our loose-knit group was created so friends can get together and learn, while having a good time."

We have also been known to work alongside our friends, the Chesapeake Volunteer Guard, Liberty Rifles, and Stonewall Brigade for those larger immersion events. So fear not!

Check out our website-blog (http://skillygalee-mess.blogspot.com/) for contact information. In addition, we may be found on both MySpace and Facebook.

"Hotel accommodations in Richmond were always small and plain, and now they were all overflowing. It was a clear case of 'devil take the hindmost,' for their cuisine decreased in quantity and quality in exact ratio to augmentation of their custom. Such a thing as a clean room, a hot steak, or an answered bell were not to be bought by flagrant bribery." Thomas Cooper De Leon
