The other day I was thinking about this song I remember from elementary school:

C-o-f-f-e-e
Coffee is not for me
It's a drink some people wake up with
That it makes them nervous is no myth
Slaves to a coffee cup, they can't give coffee up.

I Googled the first line and got one hit on the actual song (then lots of modern rock songs about coffee), which simply had the lyrics in English and German and that's it, except that it is a children's song.

The words had me wondering if this is from the Civil War era, especially with the reference to slaves and the growth of coffee's popularity because of its issuance to troops in the Union, many of whom were German.

Does anyone else know of this song, and know any background info on it?
