Question Transfer form of CSA soldier

Was there a form used to transfer soldiers from one company to another? The CSA army regs says that the commanding General must approve but gives no indication of a form type to be used.

I have a soldier in my company that is going to another unit with in our battalion and I suggested that we create transfer papers but then I haven't been able to find any to copy.

I can create something out of whole cloth but didn't want to. I was also going to give a letter of recommedation to the other captain.

Because I don't have my references with me I'm going to take a wild guess and suggest two pieces of paper:

First, a special order at regiment transferring the man from the one company to the other. Special orders were used to assign men to extra duty at regiment (e.g., clerk, nurse), so I think they would serve for this purpose. If the intent is to also transfer the man's ordnance and camp and garrison equipage, the order should probably so state.

Second, a descriptive list made out by the first company commander and sent to the second, giving personal data and the status of pay and allowances (especially clothing).

If the special order calls for transferring ordnance or camp and garrison equipage with the man, then the first company commander should prepare the necessary invoices and the second the necessary receipts. You'll find forms for these in the Regs under the sections for the Ordnance and QM departments.

But I could be wrong. Enjoy!
