Yeah, I know. Political discussions are banned here. I don't care.
While I do not have the power to suspend your account, I can declare you persona non grata in the conferences that I moderate, especially in light that you deliberately chose to ignore the rules for this forum. Therefore, I am doing so and, as a result, will be automatically deleting any and all post that you make for at least the next two weeks. I leave it up to my fellow moderators to whether or not they want to follow my example in this action. Also, remember that the Provost not yet logged in and he may take additional action.

    Question

    Hey Tom,

I thought you were the main moderator of cwreenactors.com.
Does that mean there is a higher moderator above you or there is no creator
and a couple mods to keep order? Just an innocent question

I am merely the moderator of the Other Business and Military Conferences. There are currently three other moderators that cover the Civilian Conferences, the Music Conference and the Medical Conference. These individuals are Spinster, 5strings, and "Doc" Nelson, respectively. I have been a moderator here longer than any of these three but I have no authority over how they manage their conferences. Because of my seniority, I sometimes have given individual moderators advice on dealing with certain issues (usually related to software) either via PMs or up in the Moderators Only Conference but, again, this is only a advisory role. Prior to his resignation from being the moderator of the Other Business Conferences, only SGT_Pepper had been around longer than I.

However, all four of us report to and follow the directions of the Provost who not only appointed us but also sets all policies for the forum. Even I am not sure how long the Provost has been associated with the forum but I suspect that he has at least been a moderator before assuming the Provost job even prior to my becoming even a member. The Provost is also the only one who can validate or delete accounts here.

Think of the layers of an onion, Cody. Or Dante's vision of ****, with sinners at various levels of pain and suffering. Or a religious question to which there are various answers. all based on determining the ultimate prime mover. Only true believers who have parsed moderator offerings over the course of a dozen years have attained the wisdom and insight (and had the memory to remember who said what when to who and why) know who the Ultimate Moderator is.

And, of course, let us not forget that the forum exists at all due only to the long-suffering graciousness of host Bob Szabo, who really should be benefitting from your desire for a period likeness to be struck whenever you have a moment at an event where he's set up. They are very good images.

Meanwhile, wasn't that fellow who was upset about our president-elect a real trip? Thank you Tom. Just like throwing rowdy drinkers out of the neighborhood pub.

    Yassir Mistah Tom,

Pretty well, once someone reaches the end of one moderator's patience, they reach the end of all moderator's patience, and get systematically locked down in the various conferences.

No one moderator controls all the confererences--for one thing, trying to ride herd on all of them would be a full time job, and would very quickly send said moderator screaming off a cliff at the various manifestations of foolishness and farbery.

We do tend to suffer fools rather gladly here, as we all have to start learning somewhere---as long as one pays attention to the real purpose of these forums.

Like all the rest of us, the Provost has a real life and real obligations. It often takes any of us a while to respond to alerts and such because we have real lives, and are going about them.

And anyone who thinks it some sort of badge of honor to get banned here needs to get a life, and spend their time wayyyyy more productively.

Though a bit harsh sounding, no one has a right to post here.

The owner of this, or any, forum, and those he/she chooses to help run it, have ultimate sway in what can be said and who can say it. It ain't a democracy. We can only hope for a benevolent dictatorship.

On this forum, the Powers-That-Be tend to be more lenient than they could be, but are quick to snuff out anything that gets out of hand. My personal opinion is that this is an efficient way to run the forum. If one chooses not to play by the rules, or at least within the parameters in which the PTB's choose to bend them for us, one can expect to get the hammer brought down upon them, as it was, after all, that person's choice to go out of bounds.

Don't want to play by the rules? Don't post here.
Don't like the rules here? Don't post here.
Don't like something else about here? Don't post here.

It's really not all that hard to figure out.
