Default Now THAT was a Christmas Present!

"I beg to present to you as a Christmas gift, the city of Savannah ,with 100 and 50 guns, and plenty of ammunition, also about 25,000 bales of cotton."

General 'Cump' Sherman to President Lincoln December 22, 1864.

Are we talking about Sherman or the mall on any given day after Thanksgiving?

    Justin,

I am refereeing to Sherman’s comments. Is his ghost also bragging about the scorched earth practices of the south at the shopping malls?

    Referring- a typo, I suppose.

The hyperbole is in keeping with holiday advertising, as well. I'll leave the discussion of "Lost Cause" overstatement and misrepresentation for another occasion. Instead, I will focus on a Michigan company who, with their Captain, tied tree branches to the heads of mules and distibuted wagon loads of supplies to refugees outside of Savannah. I find that very much in keeping with the spirit of the season.

LOL. That was great Justin! I needed a good laugh.....

I'll leave the pillaging to Wal-Mart goers, and the larceny to Macy's!

'll leave the pillaging to Wal-Mart goers,
And let's not forget the stampeding. Here in the East, one Walmart temp worker was literally trampled to death by shoppers when the doors opened this past Black Friday. Several of his co-workers were also hospitalized as the result of trying to rescue him. The shoppers then nearly rioted when the police temporarily shut the store for the ensuing investigation.

And the reward for the most cold blooded customer goes to the person who when asked to leave the store due to the death of the man said " but I've been waiting all nite in the line ." Wow...
