    Default Wool by the yard

I was looking around the internet to find some wool to make a civilian frock coat and was wondering if any one here knew of a good site to buy wool buy the yard?

Yep, finding wool yardage in a store in Florida is going to be quite a reach. Its hard enough in Alabama.

You've already got some good answers on your inquiry on the military subforum--Wambaugh, Childs, and Tart are all excellent period fabric vendors. By speaking with one of them about the garment and the class level you intend to portray, you'll get a good match of fabric with use. For example, a middle to upper class civilian garment would not have been made from wool jean--that's a military and lower class cloth.

Another excellent source for civilian goods is 96 District Storehouse in South Carolina. http://www.96storehouse.com/ The website is mediocre at best. Pick up the phone and call--you'll find folks who are very knowledgeable.

If you find you need to branch out of the vendors available in the hobby, one excellent source is Fashion Fabric Club

To do so, you'll need to do a good bit of research into fabrics and weights of the period in order to make a proper choice.
