Westvillieians need a goat?

Anyone going to Westville looking to buy a darling little goat? His mama, Georgia, has been to one re-enactment and he is a dandy little fellow. He would make a cute addition to living history events. If someone who is going to be at Westville wants to buy him for $50 (pet only, not for barbeque!), please let me know. . . I am looking for some excuse to take him to Westville.

And actually many of the men there are know to have eaten goats (Bentonville) and some other critters as well (Rats...Vicksburg), etc, etc.

Just to clarify...there are NO walk-ons at Westville! Any spectators who show up in period attire will be asked to leave. Site management has also backed up this policy. Please repsect the event and do not skirt the guidelines.

Lord willing, I am going as spectator and thus will be able to take pictures. For those of you who do not have any modern folks going to take pictures for you, if you will send me your name and occupation for Saturday, I’ll try to get some pictures for you.

While I've plenty of pictures over the years, you may wish to schedule yourself Saturday morning to take advantage of a unusual photo opportunity.

I'll be in the yard of #15 Bryan House, running an indigo dyepot. Indigo is a unique period dye in that the color change does not happen in the dyepot. Instead, once the yarn is pulled out, the color changes when it hits the air, and continues to darken over the span of several minutes. Multiple photos show the process quite well, if taken a few seconds apart.

I intend to start dyeing fairly early in the morning and be complete by about 1:00, as I'm due at the courthouse by 2:00, and it would not do for me to go to town with blue hands...
