Unfortunately I think it's really wet now, most of it is under Kentucky Lake now.
I'm going for a musket sling as a belt sans suspenders this weekend at Marmadukes, we'll see how that works out.
Don't think you're going to find much help on here with live firing a weapon since most places frown on reenacting with a musket you've fired live rounds out of. Some do with weapons they don't carry...
