Its a toss up when it come to Springfield or Enfield in my opinion. Both are great muskets. They have their pros and cons but it depends on 1) Unit portrayal standards 2) Time period (early on there...
Plus I am sure that the soldier who had the bullion saber knot had the Co. 1st sgt and the officers breathing down his neck on it and "voulen-told" him to replace it with the leather one.
Sadly for us NCO's we have no flashy stuff added to our uniform short of the sword, sash and different epaulets. As for the cav, Im sure you guys love those saber knots, wish we had something like...
If I were a size 40 instead of a 42 I would be all over it! 40's fit so-so on me
