Chris, thanks so much for kind words. We photographers are not adverse to getting wet, its the equipment that gets finicky not to mention exposing original CW period lenses to the elements, etc etc....
I probably should have added that period photographers also made what were then called "Mammoth" plates which are pretty much anything larger than whole plate. I can shoot up to 8 x 10 in my field...
