Hank,
They are just tree limbs with a board mounted on top. You really don't get much simpler than that.

rcleary171,
Are you painting these on the battlefield of real re-enactors? Or do you do them at home from photos?

These are my 1841 six pounders mounted on naval carriages. They are full scale. I have a fiberglass mold that I use to cast the barrels out of concrete. The carriages are made of fir. The barrels...
Here is another of my wooden guns.
This one is a full scale 12 pounder carronade with trunnions, or a "gunade" if you prefer.
It is mounted on a naval carriage. These "smashers" could inflict...

Rob,
If one was to place a wooden barreled cannon outside, it would do everything that wood does when exposed to the elements. It is likely to split, warp, etc. A good coat of paint and constant...
Here are a couple of more pictures of the Barbette carriage showing the recoil positions of the gun. Everything is funtional including the threaded wood leveling screw. It just does not fire.

George,
Thanks for the help.

I am looking for some information on the armament of the USS Albany. Does anyone know if the Albany had a 13" mortar aboard?
Does anyone have any information where I could research this?
Thanks,...
Here is a 1/5 scale Dictator mortar that I did entirely out of wood.
The original "Dictator" had a barrel that weighed 17,000 lbs.!
This one is very cool and lives in my study.
