For Federal Forage cap labels, does the number above the marked size, No. 6 for example, refer to a size range, specific size, or does it have another meaning?
It is for an actual size. Federal caps were issued in size 1 through 8 (I think, I'm not near my chart). Size 1 was a modern 6 1/2, size 2 - 6 5/8, size 3- 6 3/4 , etc.
