Not sure where else to post this...

"... and when the Lieutenant commanded us spectators to "fall in" with the troops for the charge downhill and across to the Wheatfield, he could not have known that some of us would take the order so literally..." :)

A couple of weekends ago [while I was busy amusing Company K, 1st Penna. Reserves, by falling into Plum Run during their 5th annual reenactment of the "Charge Down Little Round Top" ] a tick decided to use me for an afternoon snack. I removed it with no trouble, and thought no more about it until a couple of days later when a bright red patch appeared at the bite site. Remembering the Park Ranger's warning about Lyme disease in the Gettysburg area, I checked websites for more information, and, sure enough, found a photo that looked suspiciously like my rash [not the classic "bull's-eye" that people have heard about.] When it hadn't gone away after 10 days, I gave in and went to the doctor, who took one look at it, whipped out her prescription pad, and gave me a note for antibiotics.

Treated early enough, Lyme disease is easy to cure. Wait too long, or ignore it, and it can get really nasty.

Bottom line -- pay attention, and don't be "macho" about it.

Antibiotics cost me 41 cents. Peace of mind? Priceless.
