Chums,

I am looking for information on the US engineer battalion. During my research I have found plenty of information on the 1st, 15th and 50th NY engineers, but the one battalion of engineers that seems to be lacking of information is the US battalion of regulars. While photo searches turn up many of the US battalion at petersburg, the history of them seems to be non existant. What I am looking for in particular, is the Arms issued to the battalion (ie. Enfield, springfield rifles etc...) Campaigns and battles etc... From the photos I can gather a good amount of what they looked like in the field so I am covered on that.

Also any information and photos on the 1st CS engineers would be appreciated.

thanks,

Casey,

Go to the website of the US Army Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks. Type "engineers" into the search box. You'll get some bibliographic material (not a lot, mind you) for the 1st Bn Regular Engineers and the CS Engineers as well.

Hope this helps.

We are out of the Western NY area so we aren't too far away.
