Speaking of Corinth....

A friend of mine who is a professional historian told me about Cornith's ugly little secret. After the war Battery Robinette was leveled at the orders of a local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy because it was considered too "horrid" a reminder of battle.

Preservation concepts have certainly changed over the years.
