Hello folks,
Have a Regulation question to post........
It is/was my understanding that the Federal buckle with the SILVER wreath was for NCO's and the Officer buckles were all gold........
Well..... According to the 1861 Dress Regulations.....
"1513. For all Officers and Enlisted Men-gilt, rectangular, two inches wide a raised bright rim; a silver wreath of laurel encircling the "Arms of the United States;" eagle, shield. Scroll, edge of cloud and ray bright. The motto, "E Pluribus Unum," in silver letters, upon the scroll; stars also of silver; according to pattern."
I have downloaded a ton of period officer's photographs and probably 50% of them you can see the SILVER wreath on the buckle....
So........ where and when did the 'all gold for officer's' info come from as I can't find any other CW period dress reg that states anything different.
Cheers
Mark
