Bill,
I'm writing up an account of this year's Neshaminy event for submission to the Civil War News and was wondering if you could report on the total raised for preservation this year. I'd like to include that in my report.
Thanks,
Joe Bordonaro

Joe,

We won't know the exact amount for a month or two; until all the bills are submitted and paid. For the past few years, we've been averaging around $5,000 dollars per year, with the majority of the funds going to the CWPT.

I'd hate to make a guess for this year. We didn't raise our registration fees, in the face of ever increasing costs and in the case of the Confederates, slightly reduced participation. Spectator attendance was great on Saturday, not so good on Sunday. That's a major concern, since all spectator donations go to preservation, not to help pay for the Event.

Bill,
OK, thanks for the quick reply. I'll just write that final figures for this year aren't in yet, but preservation donations have been averaging about $5,000 a year in recent years. Not too shabby!

I thought I read in a previous thread, that the Neshaminy Event was moved up a weekend to April 18th & 19th. To accomadate the Spotsylvania Event being the following weekend after April 25th & 26th. Did it change?

You are correct, Neshaminy has been moved back to the weekend of April 17th., to accommodate the Spotsylvania Event.

What are the proposed scenarios Bill? How about the fight at the crossroads in the wilderness for the tactical in the woods at Neshaminy and muleshoe for the public one day?

Andy,

We are doing Monocacy and Fort Stevens for the spectators this year. The tactical is what it is.

Andy is right,

The Scripted Scenario area at Neshaminy is limited in size, in order to give a good view of the battle to the spectators, who usually attend in big numbers. In contrast, the area for the "pre-battle" tactical is big, almost a half mile wide and three-quarters of a mile long. It includes woods, roads, trails, ravines, swamps, and a big open field. The tactics used during the tactical are at the discretion of the Commanders, with the provision that the troops need to be able to get in position for the scripted scenario, that follows.

I like to think we Cornfeds usually give the Federals a pretty good run for their money. :)
