Isn't the timing for this event (in PA) especially poor? Baesd on the fact that you have 'At High Tide' on that same weekend and the 'Gettysburg' event on the following weekend, I don't see the logic in it. Rather than dilute efforts further, supporting one or both of the existing events, that have been planned for some time, seems to make more sense.

The ladies always had tea when a battle was going on during the war! Nothing I like more after a hard days fighting watching friend and family die then a nice dance at the end! Sounds like fun

Our event is not "Poor Timing!" It is the 7th Annual March to Destiny" event!
If you would read the history of the Civil War, you would know that the week prior to the Battle of Gettysburg, the Confederates actually took over the town of Shippensburg & camped here before moving on to Gettysburg! That is the reason WHY we hold our re-enactment - in memory of that week!!
Check out our History Page on our website -

Thank You!

Lighten up! Don't you have anything better to do than bash anothers event listed on this website!
When this event was first started in memory of that fateful week - of which there were over 20,000 Confederates invading our town - we just re-enacted the Saturday skirmish. Then, the re-enactors got together and wanted to do a tactical battle on Sunday - hence, Sunday's battle. The Tea was planned for the locals in town.
We were definitely NOT trying to take away the importance of this event or the thousands of lives lost as they marched on to Gettysburg!!
