Once upon a time, there were enough units with the necessary uniform to field a respectable battalion of the 14th Brooklyn (a.k.a. the 84th NY). Are they still out there? If somebody offered a scenario where the 14th fought, would they come?

Just curious,

Kevin

Kevin,

there are still a couple 14th Brooklyn units out there. We've got some great comrades-in-red in Co. E, out of NY. You can visit them online at

They're a good bunch of guys!

I remember those days.

When I first started reenacting our unit portray the 14th Brooklyn and would attend the events out east to help form a battalion of around 60 to 100 men. The last time we did that was Gettysburg 135th

If I remember things right the biggest groups were company E out of New Jersey and company H from Brooklyn. The rest of them came from all over the country even Canada.

It sure would be cool to see a battalion of red legs again.

There is small contingent of a 14th Brooklyn unit who attend FL events, but I don't know where they are based....

That's Company G, based out of the Orlando area.

Thanks! I take pictures of them when I can, because I have a good friend from Brooklyn, and I like to send them to her.

Agreed. There is an opportunity for that coming up. One of scenarios for the AHT event focuses on the opening fight west of the town, to include the area of the Chambersburg Pike and McPherson's Ridge. The 14th was engaged there, and it would be great to have them.

I've passed your message on to Bill Pangrass of Co G. down here in Florida to see if there is some interest in coming up. I know that in years passed they have gone north to meet with their northern cousins.

That was most kind of you, thanks. I have sent a message to Co. E. We'll see what happens.
