Greetings all;
It seems alot of my cartridge making paraphenalia has grown legs and taken a walk. First my dowel and now my spool of linen thread. The last spool I had, I can't remember where I got it, is now gone. Anybody got any sources of where I can get a spool of 3 ply unwaxed linen thread. The last one I had was a brand called Barbours 3 ply and I lucked into it. Now I am unable to find a source that has this thread at a reasonable price. My searches have ended fruitless.
When rolling cartridges I go by the CRC and try to follow it exactly.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kindest Regards

I've heard that sources for domestically produced linen thread have been drying up. I'm sure that is posing issues for makers of shoes and accoutrements.

One place that you might consider trying is a leather shop in Indianapolis. Here is there info...

Landwerlens
(317)636-8300
365 Illinois Street
Indianapolis, IN (I don't have the zip, but they're right downtown)

They've been in business for 100 years or so and have a lot of goodies in their shop. I purchased a spool of linen thread from them about 8 years ago and they had a pretty good supply. I'm not sure if it is exactly the type you're looking for, but I figure its worth a shot.

Best of Luck!

Try John Neal books in NC: http://www.johnnealbooks.com/prod_detail_list/72

Look under bookbinding supplies for needles and thread. They have your Barbour's in white and other colors, and in various sizes.

John Neal is also my preferred source for nibs (try the EF Principal and Gillott's 404 & 303) and oak gall ink.

You can order on-line and they usually deliver in a week or so.
