From Monty Python: "May we come up and see it?"

It's right next to my castle of "Arrrrrrrrggghhhh".

But I don't go there. It IS a silly place.

"There are no restrictions on the fort, meaning the new owners can develop it as they see fit. One possible use for the land would be the creation of a marina and luxury condominiums with dramatic views of the lake and mountains in Vermont and New York states; there are no height restrictions for such a development. Potential also exists for commercial development, as the area has proven to be attractive to business."

So much for history...

I'm not sure how much history is actually attached to the fort. The one reference I have found so far indicates that work was begun on the fort in the 1840s (which fits the visibly surviving structure) and it was intended to protect the natural highway of Lake Champlain. This was a favorite north south route between the United States and Canada. It never saw action, so unless someone important such as Robert E Lee of the engineers had a hand in building it, is seems unlikely to have much history attached to it. Of course, it might still make a great base for some reenactments depending on how much undeveloped ground survives around it.

I called my credit union, but I'm $9,949,600.00 short. Dammit!!!!!!

I had plans, too........NO ONE on my property had to have 2 impressions to come on out and play. $3 registration fee for EVERYONE (mounted cavalry FREE) Oh, well, it was nice while it lasted....all 30 seconds of it.

Also we might need the fort if we ever go to war with Canade:)

10 dollars says there's no saving it now from become a housing development... 'tis a sad thing, even though it isn't a extremely important fort, but still

Outside of Plattsburgh it isn't going anywhere for a while. We aren't exactly talking the cultural or vacation center of the universe.

I should know I was up in the neighborhood 2 weeks ago on business.

Maybe if we wait a while the price will become more reasonable.

Just past the last aqueduct, turn left after the towering stature of Ceasar and youa re there. Tell the Centurion that you want to see the hottub.

How about a "period'" fishing camp.

We could go crab fishing! A manly endeavour if there ever was one!!
But I have to be Captain.......that other stuff's too tough.
