Greetings Friends,

As I have had the opportunity to explore some wonderful European battlefields, I though I would post a photographic journal of my experiences here:

I am quite a student of military history and know there must be more out there among the Civil War reenactment community!

Regards,

Thomas E. Pallas

"THE SOMME 1916"

Thomas,

This is "neat". Could you fix the THE SOMME 1916 thumbnails?

Neat! Thanks Thomas.

I've read a little about the Franco-Prussian War and the uniforms so the Froeschwiller pics are appreciated.

The pictures from WWI shows just how nasty that war was.It is often overlooked by WWII.
It seems that the trenches from Verdun are still as nasty as ever. And the cemetery from that battle is just beyond anything words can describe. The crater from the Somme shows just how massive the blunder of the first day really was.You see it and can understand how people could think that civilization was coming to an end.
But with Ypres, there was the Christmas Truce of 1914.It shows how even in something as deadly as WWI,humanity and hope still lives.
Great photos Thomas.
