It is with sincere regret that the organizers must announce the cancellation of "The Road to Goldsboro" scheduled to be held March 31 through April 2.

The cancellation is due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances.

As a result of the high water table already prevalent in this region and the unseasonable amounts of rain received over the past several months, there is standing water, ankle-deep or better mud, and extremely boggy conditions of the soil. These conditions are such that the site is not now, and cannot for the foreseeable future be made safe for our mounted participants. The loss of this key contingent compromises our scenario to such extent that it cannot successfully be carried out with any hope of achieving our original goals for the event.

We had great hopes for this event, and trust you will understand our unwillingness to compromise high standards in the name of simply going forward. Several compromises were suggested, but we all agreed it would simply not be the event advertised. We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment to those who have already registered, or had set aside the weekend to attend. If there was anything that could be done to make the site workable, or to find an alternative site with the same or similar amenities or fixtures, we would have gone forward. A diligent search for such alternatives has proven unavailing.

Thank you for your support. All registrations received will be promptly returned.
