I posted the above web sights without adding a note.
I found this a long time ago and thought other people might like to try it. The first site is not as advanced as the second one. I am 36% dixie on the first and 45% dixie on the second. (My grandma was born in Virginia, so thats where it came from.)
Hope you enjoy it!

0% Dixie. Need help digging out of the snow?

"..Folks in the Northeast go to the shore..."

On Cape Ann we go to the beach or "the rocks" (no sand)

Folks from New Jersey go to the shore

now is that surprising considering my parents are NYC kids, RC and my mother is full blooded Italian?

And I've never lived outside the mid-Atlantic (northern section).

However some of those questions are just plain wrong in their assumptions. Born in Jersey and grew up on Long island and some of those "southenr" sayings and pronunciations are alive and well in those parts of the country.

26% Dixie??? Must be living so close to W.VA. I loved the "gum band" western PA refernce. We are unique in our accent (which no one arond here says we have). Still 26% confuses me, my heritage is 100% Greek and the earliest ancestor to come to the US was in 1926 and all came to work Pennsylvania steel mills or coal mines. Closet thing I have to Dixie was a really fun vacation in Virginia when I was 21..... (sorry, let's keep it rated G)

My first score was "68% Dixie.Well under the Mason-Dixon Line."

HOWEVER... I was born and raised in West (by God) Virginia within an hour's drive of the Mason-Dixon Line and I speak with a rather neutral Western Pennsylvania accent. As a grown-up I've lived for extended periods in Minnesota, New York City, California, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland.

So, thinking the test faulty, I took it again and actually tried to be less Southern. What did I get? "86% Dixie. Do you still use Confederate money?"

Well, I'm glad there was a second test. The first one had me 66% Dixie, and I'm far from being a Southern. Why there's no Dixie blood in me till the sixth generation, and they were just passing through from PA to Ohio (no one stayed long enough to die in Virginia).

Personally, I'm a combination of Manhattan & Northern Ohio. So I'm glad the second one came back only 35% Dixie. With five grandfathers who fought for the Union, I wouldn't want to disappoint them. :D

While born in New Jersey, I was raised in Ohio and Illinois.I didn't get back to Jersey until College so where did all the Southern influence come from in my scores? Could it have been those guys who were shooting at me?

1st Test 40% Dixie. You are definitely a Yankee.

2nd Test 24% Dixie. You are a dandy Yankee Doodle.

Guess those years in South Carolina were smothered by the Cold Northwestern PA winters!

I am suprised they didnt go over the wash or warsh. My mom still warshes her clothes and runs the sweeper, not the vacuum

Ah, the wonders of the internet - so many things to do other than what you're supposed to be doing. Our ancestors had it so hard, they had to figure out for themselve whether they were Yankees or Rebels.

With the first test, I'm
87% Dixie. Do you still use Confederate money?

An no surprise there, with the next test, I got
100% Dixie. Is General Lee your grandfather?!

While I have to change the way I speak for work, all I have to do is pick up the phone, call my cousin or my granmomma and you know exactly where I'm from. ;)

Both tests---100% Dixie. Is General Lee your grandfather?!
Born in state of Washington, grew up in Washington and So. Cal, served in SEA for several years, currently living in Western NY; however, my maternal grandfather's ancestors were in the the extreme SW corner of VA from the late 1600's/early 1700's until after Mr. Lincoln's War of Northern Aggression. Must be genetic. :)
