Battleshirt Material

What would be a good choice for material for a battleshirt?

The list is very long. These shirts were actually civilian overshirts- meaning workshirts. Denim, wool, jean, cotton the list goes on. A lot of quality vendors are making these right now. I had a very nice one made from sky blue denim with black trim. Many prefer the wool flannel. Do your own research and figure out what you like best.
