Any of ya'll want to ride with Merrill's Horse? We need monted and dismounted cavalry and all the various and assundry supporting contingents an organization of this repute would carry along with it.

I want to host a few camps of instruction in 2008. I got six or eight boys with good gun broke horses eager to form up and ride like Yankee soldiers. We've been ridin' raider style and reckon it might be a lotta fun to ride with the Blue for change.

Do I need to form up an LLC or Not for Profit or can I just paint me an eagle on piece of blue silk and call myself Colonel?

How many of ya'll are close enough to northeast Missouri to want to do a little work on your impression? How many of you all would come to a camp of instruction to work together with others to improve our overall impression?

I reckon I got a pretty good place or two, you all.

How you go about settin' one of these things up?

For starters I would not call yourself a colonel until you had enough riders to justify it. The hard part of this unit is that it is a very specific unit. The hardest part will be finding a source for the Hall carbine. Then you have the uniforms. They have different piping on the cap and jacket etc.

This is one of my favorite units and should not be done unless it is done right.
