Am I correct that the time of postings is now off from reality?

There's always GMT/UTC considerations......this is posted at 10:34AM CDT. and since this is showing as 8:10 AM then yes, it's not posting based on reality......time to sync up Windows time for the IIS server.

And this is a new thing? I gave up a long time ago of trying to figure out whether the forum clock was correct or not. I suspect that the problem is with the time setting on the server computer. Maybe Bob needs to download the free software that automatically resets your computer time to the secondary standard clock kept by NIST.

P.S. Since this is a software issue, I am moving this to the New User conference.

Just noticed it because some new posts were appearing before earlier ones.
It's interesting to read the answer before the question gets asked.

I changed my time zone from EST (-5:00) to Teheran (+3:30). Now the clock is only about six minutes off.

Now it appears to be about 8 hours off. I am posting this at 5:27 pm by my computer.

A temporary work-around until the software time is adjusted is to go into your User CP, Choose Edit Options, Scroll down to Date & Time Options and set your Time Zone to (GMT +3:30 Tehran).

Hallo!

As with broken clocks, the time on broken boards/fora IS right twice a day.

(Really just posting to see the time...and to answer a question before it is asked...)

Hmmmmm. Kind of like being in Iran and talking to Americans eight hours in the "Past." ;-)

Is there an easy way to correct the discrepancy in time? While it is not a critical issue, it is annoying.

Yes, I posted a quick fix in reply #7.

Somehow in this world of NSA electronic surveillance of almost everything, the idea of setting my time setting to indicate that I live in Iran does not seem that attractive. And even easier fix would be for Bob to check the time setting on his server computer as I suspect that is where the real problem lies.

Probably one of two things - either the wrong time zone is set in the vbulletin admin control panel (vbulletin options > Date & Time Options) or the server time is off.

Server time is off. :)

We're due for an upgrade/reset. It's just a matter of time for Bob to do it.
