YOS,

Nope, I got it on DVD. My favorite CW movie ever!

Have it on DVD. IMHO, it's the funniest picture ever made, and the best CW film.

Frank,

"it's the funniest picture ever made, and the best CW film."

How about "General Spanky?"

Frank -

Apparently you've never seen The Hallelujah Trail. Raucous good fun.

from IMDB:

Plot summary for
The Hallelujah Trail (1965)

"A wagon train heads for Denver with a cargo of whisky for the miners. Chaos ensues as the Temperance League, the US cavalry, the miners and the local Indians all try to take control of the valuable cargo."

Greg,

A Civil War movie?

I do remember the miner's militia unit, "The Denver Free Militia"

Are you thinking of Advance to the Rear or the Red Skelton movie A Southern Yankee?

Scott -

My previous response was, perhaps, a little shadowy. Though, not a CW movie, The Hallelujah Trail was, IMHO, much funnier than The General. Guess that's what I was responding to more.

"Defend your front!"
"Defend your rear!"
"Defend your front and rear - simultaneously!"

Good times. Good times.

Greg,

Sorry to be picky. Yes it is funny!

The Hallelujah Trail (1965)
Col. Thaddeus Gearhart: Give a woman an acorn and the next thing you know you're up to your rump in oak trees.

Col. Thaddeus Gearhart: If it's the last thing I do, I'll have that entire band transferred to Alaska! (See, post-Seward's Folly)

Capt. Paul Slater: Protect both rears simultaneously!

I liked the wagon train sinking into the quicksand

Haven't seen the Hallelujah Trail for years, but it's a good one. General Spanky is awfully good, too. But I just love watching Buster Keaton. The whole world was a comic property to him.
