Not bad at all. Will you be using something to wipe on it from time to time? I use either carnauba wax or Ballistol on my stocks.

Sweet oil works well and is both less expensive and period correct.

Oiling of the stock is just another part of the cleaning process for all my firearms.

I stripped away that ole pesky plastic finish from my Enfield a couple years ago. I am happy I did so. I use Tung Oil. gives a rich patina, and penetrates into the wood instead of sitting on top and doesn't attract dirt and dust like oil does.
Looks good, Bill. Mine looks much the same.
I hand-rubbed seven coats of Daler-Rowney linseed oil (the stuff without the health warnings) into mine.
For cleaning, I use Kramer's Best Antique Improver. Then I seal it with Jarnagin's Preservation Wax.

William, do you by any chance have before pics? I'd be interested in comparing what they look like before and after your work. Thanks
